Our story started over 40 years ago
when Jim and Valerie Pike immigrated to New Zealand

First Greenhouse
Jim builds the first 1-acre greenhouse on his Property in Henderson Valley and starts growing cucumbers, capsicums & eggplants.

A Superb Idea
Jim's son. Charles, spots fresh herbs in European supermarkets and Superb Herb is born.

1980
Seeding Operation
Opening of Superb Herb Automated Seeding Operation making the business more in control of its growing quality and yield.

2006
Winning Business
Superb Herb wins the supreme title at the 2008 BNZ Waitakere Business Awards as well as the mid-sized business category.

More Space out West
As the business grows, we expand to Parakai, giving an extra 2.7 hectares of heated greenhouses.

Paper Pot Technology
Paper Pots are introduced instead of plastic pots making our business more sustainable.

Cut Room Expansion
Superb Herb’s own thermo former is installed to provide the ultimate herb pack.

Water Reservoir
The last and larger water reservoir is in operation making us completely self-sufficient in water.

On the Road
Our truck is on the road enabling us to keep control of our cool chain and daily distribution to our main centres.

New Investment
Ken Rogers becomes a partner in the business and is appointed Managing Director.
